I have an HP Media Center Computer with Windows Media Center XP.
When I attempted to boot up the computer it stopped with error message
: Windows Failed to Start. File missing or corrupted: System
32\Driver\NTFS.Sys"
The computer has built in recovery software, however, if that is used,
although the data will remain untouched, all of the installed
application software will be lost.
Is there a method whereby I can restore only the missing or corrupted
file without losing the installed applications?
Best, Aaron

Dear Fitz: Thank you for your reply! I went to the site & it did
contain valuable info that I need to retain.
Unfortunately your reply appeared a few days after my post & I had
gone ahead & used the recovery program in Windows Media Player XP
which reinstalled the Windows operating system and all of the data,
but as I had known previously, did not re-install the applications
software. Fortunately I still have my applications software disks
and can restore, but unfortunately, a very time consuming task.
