  when turning my pc on a black screen pops up and shows a screen please select
in so may seconds with a phrase system recovery or windows xp. what could
this be

 Probably your system didn't shut down properly before, and it is trying to
correct the error.  I would suggest you post to the
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general newsgroup where XP is supported.  This
newsgroup supports Media Center Edition functionalities.

 This may be a function of your computer manufacturer's installation.  =
Most new PC's come with a "recovery partition".  Selecting the "system =
recovery" option would boot this partition, which would give you the =
option of restoring all the original applications or putting the system =
back to its out of box condition.  Consult your user's manual for more =
inforamtion on this function.
