Every time I try to install my Linksys mce, I receive the error message:
The connection between the MCE and the Media Center PC was lost due to one of
the following reasons (Error Code: 00000002)
I was on the telephone with linksys support for hours. They said it was
a firewall problem. Windows firewall was disabled. I was running Norton
Intenet Security. We disabled it. We uninstalled it. Nothing worked.
They said contact Microsoft.

Not sure about that specific error message, but my Linksys box has a dodgy
network socket.
I have to slightly lift the network cable and hold it for about 2 seconds
until the lights come on on the port, Maybe just maybe, you have the same
problem.
It took me ages to notice as when the wired failed mine automatically logged
in via wireless.
Perhaps plug in another network device like laptop or print server to check
that the network is OK.
Failing that, presuming you are using a router/switch you could change your
cable to a crossover cable, remove the router, and press the little button
on the back of the linksys box to make it work in cross over mode, that way
you will know if a firewall problem is part of your router or part of
windows.
One last thought is that maybe you've already pressed the cross over button
and you dont have a cross over lead.
