HeyJude:

quotes ( don't forget to hit spacebar after ipconfig and before flushdns. This
helped me and it also releases and renews you dns. Also in Administrative tools
under windows components make sure your " dnsclient " is enabled.
For the windows media player error ( OxC000142 ) press start > control panel

windows media player and make sure it is checked, if yes uncheck and recheck
and follow through with the rest of the prompts. Restart computer.
Hope this helps
It did me

none checked check them, close out of media player and reopen and leave them
checked.
2. SOLVED: OxC0000142
1. Open windows media player > click on tools > click options ( dialog box
appears ) > in options dialog box click the performance tab > in the video
acceleration area slide the bar all the way to the left > click apply >
test to see if the video will play back ( you may need to reboot your
computer with each of these steps )
2. in the video acceleration area click advanced > in the video acceleration
settings dialog box click to clear the check for use overlays > then click to
clear the check box for use high quality mode.
test to see if the video will play back
