I am (obviously) new to Vista and MediaCenter, and one of the first
things I noticed on my PC was this strange MCX1 account with what
looked like access to lots of files. I was concerned I had a virus or
hacker, so I deleted the account. Oops. I think I might have deleted
the related group, too.
Now I cannot get my Xbox to connect any more... I have tried re-
running the Media Center setup, uninstalling the XBox extender and re-
installing, etc. but nothing seems to work.
Any suggestions?

Remove the Extender that is currently set up, and go through the process of
adding a new Extender.
That should re-create things (assuming it isn't too badly botched up).

I did that, it still does not work. I went to the extender in the

could try that.

Are you seeing a particular error at the PC when you attempt to uninstall
and re-add?
Check the event viewer for any Media Center events corresponding to the time
that you tried to add the Xbox 360 as an Extender. (right click My
Computer --> Manage. Select Event Viewer --> Select Applications and Service
Logs --> Media Center)
