Hi there,
I went over to a friends house to help him restore his computer. He has
Windows XP MCE 2005 and has always used the ATI media centre software to
watch TV through the ATI All-in-Wonder Remote card.
After a successful restore and reinstallation of Windows XP MCE2005, I
installed all drivers for all the hardware, including the software and
drivers for the ATI tuner/video card. I loaded up Media Centre and went
through the TV setup and managed to get a successful TV signal.
After reinstalling his other applications such as Office, Live Messenger,
IE7, WMP11, Xbox360 MC-Extender, etc, Media Centre does not detect a TV tuner
and displays the "No TV Tuner" message. I have even tried to restore the
computer once more and get the same error, even though we managed to gain a
successful signal the first time.
However, when we load Live Messenger and go throught the Video/Audio
settings, his TV tuner card comes up in the list as a video device and it
even displays the TV signal in the preview box.
How can I resolve his problem?

You likely didn't install the encoder software which is available via ATI's
website (without knowing your hardware, I can't give you an exact link, but
you can likely find it yourself at their website)..
Seeing video through the Live Messenger webcam window is no guarantee at all
that you've installed the above component which is needed for Media Center.

Gary, I have installed the video drivers for the card and it originally
worked, then stopped. Maybe I have missed something? If you can find a direct
link that would be great. I have called my friend and he has given me his ATI
card model name: ATI All In Wonder X800 XL.
Thank you for your quick response,
Nim

The encoder is not included with the video driver (it is part of their
Multimedia Package).
Get the encoder via the Multimedia package here

Jason, I will try to install the ATI Multimedia package and let you know if
it was successful or not. Thanks again.
