Sorry, I couldn't find an appropriate place to post this.
OS: XP Pro SP 3
IE: Version 8
Live Messenger: 2009
Each time I boot my computer and login to Windows, the Windows Live
Messenger installer runs and looks like it is installing Live Messenger.
Live Messenger has been installed on my computer for quite some time now.
Live Messenger works OK, and I don't have any problems that I know of with
other programs on my computer, so I'm not overly concerned, but could this be
an indication of other issues? My virus scans do not show any virus
infestations or other programs lurking on my computer.
Thanks.

This group discusses Windows Media Center, a more on topic group would be
any of the messenger groups or even xp.general.

A friend of mine has the exact same problem running Vista Home Premium SP1,
IE 8 and Live Messenger 9.
My own laptop has the same problem with XP Home SP3, IE7 and Live Messenger
9 since the last format. Worked perfectly fine before with the same
configuration.

Ask him to download and run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.

There's no installer in the list of programs. Only Live-related ones are
(translated from dutch) : Live help proram for uploading, Live login help,
Live Call, Live Communications Platform, Live Essentials, Live Mail and Live
Messenger.
Since I only want the instant messaging part without cluttering my system
with all kinds of useless applications that nobody ever actually uses, I
might try to uninstall all of them except for Messenger itself. If that
doesn't solve it, I'll revert to Live Messenger 8.
