Just about ready to build a Vista MCE machine and wanted to pick everyone’s
brains regarding dual tuner cards. There’s tons of posts regarding this
issue but I just wanted to see what the LATEST opinions were regarding dual
NTSC and dual ATSC cards…
Which ones perform well and more importantly which ones play nice with Vista?
For the dual NTSC side my first impulse is to go with either the Hauppauge
WinTV-PVR-500MCE or the nVidia DualTV (however the buzz is that nVidia is
lacking somewhat on their Vista support). Thoughts/inputs?
For the ATSC side my first impulse is to go with the Avermedia AVerTVHD MCE
A180. Is there a dual tuner version of this card out yet? If not other dual
ATSC cards? Thoughts/inputs?

For NTSC dual tuner, go with the Hauppauge PVR500. NVidia's support of that
product has been dismal, and I don't see it improving.

The dual atsc ntsc tuner cards should also be considered if you would like
to keep the budget lower. The Avermedia M780 white box or Hauppauge HVR 1600
run 89.95 or less and would give you 4 tuners at a reasonable price.

I concur. I saw one post from a user that had 2 1600 cards installed and
was able to record 2 NTSC programs and 2 ATSC programs at the same time
while playing back a 5th recording.
