Does anyone have any updates on the integration of Windows Vista Media Center
and Windows Live Messenger? Is it forthcoming in a serivce pack release or
as an addon?
It would be very cool to see IMs while watching TV in Media Center instead
of minimizing the Media Center window and realizing that people have been
IMing me in the background. I realize that WXP MCE machines used to be able
to do this, but the functionality was removed from Windows Vista Media Center
due to the Microsoft anti-trust ruling.
I've read some old internet blogs about the rumored 'Codename Nemo' project
from mid- to late-2006, but can't find much news of anything recent about
this.
Thanks for any information and happy holidays!

No. As far as anyone is aware, this is a dead issue. Integration with
Windows Messenger (different from Live Messenger) was removed in Vista, and
there are, at last report, no plans to put it back.

The functionality was not removed due to any anti-trust ruling.
It was removed because Windows Messenger was not included in Vista, and
MSN/Windows Live Messenger didn't have the same API calls that would have
made it possible for integration into Media Center.
