  This is what happens,
1) I open media centre
2) Scroll down to My TV
3) click on 'Live TV'
4) The media centre loading circle appears and then stops

The system is frozen. Nothing responds, arrow, Media Centre, etc.

The computer is a hp pavilion entertainment pc, dv9000

Can you play a prevsioulsy recorded TV program or a sample program?
Have you tried removing and reinserting the tuner?  I suggest that this only
be done when computer is shutdown.

  Did it ever work?
If so, try a system restore back to a date that you know it did work.

The laptop ONLY freezes when I click live tv.
The laptop only freezes 50% of the time when I click 'live tv'.
When I turn off and turn back on the laptop, I am able to watch live tv
without the laptop freezing when I press the 'live tv' button.

THe laptop does not freeze when I play recorded tv, videos or music.
I have recently reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled the operating
system.
I have done a microsoft update.
I have been able to press the 'live tv' button in media centre with no
problems before I reformatted and reinstalled the operating system.

The laptop has an intel dual core processor and has a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600
graphics card.

It is possible that when you reinstalled the OS that your tuner card and
your graphics or sound card may be sharing an IRQ. Also be leary of any MS
updates that update drivers since they are often many months behind and
incompatible with your other drivers.  Only install updated drivers from the
vendors websites.
