Hi all, I have just purchased the above product ATI TV Wonder Elite for
my emachines T6524. I have contacted ATI and Emachines (the latter will
not support me, since it is a third party product...EVEN though
Emachines would have sold me the same product) about what do I need to
do to make sure I have NO problems before installing this card. I got
instructions from both of them. ATI's are cryptic and several pages
long...they discuss removing all ati references on computer. Emachines
are less than a page long and discuss uninstalling the vid drivers
only.

My major question is which one do I follow and has anyone else
experienced similar issues. Please assist, as I do not have the
patience or energy to have a product not work successfully.

thanks in advance
MediaM

There's not much to it assuming you are using Media Center.

Plug it in.
Feed it the drivers from here -
http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=10116
Reboot if necessary
Install a compatible DVD playback software - see this blog posting for info
http://jtsang.blogspot.com/2006/05/media-center-mpeg2-decoders-now-and.html
Upon successful reboot, open MCE and then run through the TV Signal Setup
(Settings, TV, Set Up TV Signal)

If you aren't using Media Center, just install the software that came with
the card.
