I have dell PC (Dimension 4600) with ATI 9000 readon card. Recently I have
upgraded my OS from MCE 2004 to MCE 2005. My MCE 2004 use to work without any
issues but when I installed (with the help of DELL support), my Media Center
stopped working. I am not able to play any video.

I do not have any issues playing the video using other tools (example:
Windows Media Player), never have any problems.

I am getting error 'Your video card or drivers are not compatible with Media
Center', after I open Media Center in MCE2005.

I have tried getting the drivers installed from ATI website, but still I am
getting this error.

System:

DELL Dimention 4600
Video/TV Capture card: AIW 9000

Anyone know what could be the problem?

Thanks,
Shailendra

Most likely you have no DVD decoder software on your computer after the
upgrade since it is none is included in MCE.
Suggest you get the Nvidia PureVideo decoder package from their Website for
$20.

Just to add for the OP, if you'd like to determine if the decoder is your
problem before making a purchase you can download the 30 day trial of the
Nvidia platinum package from
http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder_1.02-223-trial.html
If it takes care of the problem, uninstall it, then purchase and install the
$20 package.

Thanks David for the reply and suggestion.

I am just wondering whether this is anything to do with DirectX version or
MPEG2.

David and others,

I did installed the Video Decoder fromnVIDIA website and checked with
DECCHECK utility and everything looks great.

Then I started Media Center, I got the same error 'Your video card or
drivers are not compatible with Media Center'

I use to get another message in the Media Center following this error message

Title of the error: VIDEO ERROR
Message: Files needed to display video are not installed or not working
correctly. Please restart Media Center and/or restart the computer' with 'OK'
button.

I have tried closing and reopening but I am getting the same errors.

Anyone have seen this kind of error message. I am sure someone might...
