  Hi,

My motherboard is an Asus P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe and I have two matched
1-gig memory modules (Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4).  The memory is set
at 4-4-4-12-2T Cas 4,  running at 2.1v, and posts at 800mhz.

The motherboard has four DIMM slots, A1 and A2 are grouped into
Channel A, and B1 and B2 are grouped into Channel B.

I have my two memory modules in A1 and A2.

How can I tell if the memory is running in dual channel mode?  If its
not, do I need to try a  different memory configuration?  (i.e. A1
B1).

My system has run rock solid for 9 months without a problem.  I just
want to get the maximum performance out of it.

Usually it'll tell you in POST if you've not got the splash screen
enabled.

Alternatively, run the Memory Benchmark in SiSoft Sandra with the DIMMS
in different slots, i.e A1/2 and A1/B1.

Hi Conor, thank you for the info.  I tried Sandra and got a memory
bandwidth of about 3.2 gigs.  Then I reconfigured the memory from
A1/A2 to A1/B1 and there was a new POST message about dual channel
mode enabled.  Sandra showed a definite improvement of about 5.8 gigs.
I can't believe I went all this time without realizing that dual
channel relied on memory placement.  Ah well, we live and we learn. Ty
again for your reply.

Git.

I only get around 3.2Gb/s in dual channel...

My motherboard autodetected my memory settings incorrectly, which is
either a quirk with my motherboard or my memory.  But the msg boards
on the website where I bought my hardware stated that this is normal
and that the correct memory settings must be entered manually, which
wasn't a problem.  The optimal settings for my own memory are 4-4-4-12
CAS 4 @ 2.1v.  Try researching for the optimal settings for your
memory and checking your bios to see if its correct.
