Hello Everyone (and Wes in particular),

Last tuesdaynight I made the change to my system. (see thread AMD Tbred
2100+ with MSI K7T266pro2-ru)
First I had to remove a capacitor to make the board suiteable not only for
Palomino chips but also for he faster Thoroughbred.
Finally the system booted after I resolved a power-problem (could have been
dust in one of the slots!)
The highest stable setting in the bios for FSB is 154 MHz. The highest
option for the multplier is 15, but...............the system wouldn't start
(black screen, not even booting) even if I changed the FSB back to "normal"
133 MHz. Clearing the bios by changing a jumper made the system run again.
So I had to set it back to "auto" which in fact means 13x.
I don't know why this is. Could probably depend on the DDR memory speed. Who
knows?
Eventually its running now on 2000 MHz (13x154) which is better than the
1520 MHz I had with the former 1600+ Palomino CPU.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
Many thanks,

Olav

Very interesting.

I have the "K7T266 Pro2" but officially it's only rated for 2000+...

Is the "-ru" version any different to the non -ru part?

Just to be really clear.. I mean 2000+ processor not 2000MHz.

Hi Colin,

I know what you mean. In fact only the RU (raid) board is able to "notice"
Thoroughbreds ( they can go up to 2600+)  But ................. after
removing a certain capacitor! that's what I did to my board and it works!!
